How to Write a Bio That Actually Gets Read

tips personal-branding bio networking

Your Bio Is Your Elevator Pitch

Most professional bios are boring. They're a list of job titles in reverse-chronological order, written in the third person, that read like a LinkedIn summary written by a committee.

Your KardID profile bio is different. It's short, punchy, and often the first — and only — thing someone reads before deciding whether to reach out.

Here's how to write one that works.

Lead With What You Do, Not Who You Work For

"Senior Product Manager at Acme Corp where I work across multiple teams on various product initiatives."

"I build products that reduce churn. Currently PM at Acme Corp, previously at Intercom and HubSpot."

The first says nothing. The second says everything.

Mention One Specific Achievement

Numbers, if you have them, build credibility instantly:

- "Grew organic traffic 3x in 18 months"
- "Raised a $2.4M seed round"
- "Speaker at SxSW, TEDx Austin, and ProductCon"

Pick one. Use it.

Be Human

You're a person, not a resume line. One personal detail — where you're based, something you care about outside work, a weird hobby — makes you memorable.

Keep It Under 250 Characters

Most people skim. Say the most important thing first. Cut the rest.

KardID Tip: Your bio has a 500-character limit by default. Personal Plus users can write a longer extended bio that expands when tapped.
